Why shimmer works better for body
On body skin:
pores are larger
lighting is stronger
flat pigments look dull
Shimmer creates:
muscle definition
healthy glow
“skin highlight” effect.
Types of shimmer that look good on body
Avoid glitter.
Use cosmetic micas with satin glow.
golden glow = gold mica
beach bronze = bronze mica
champagne glow = champagne mica (fantasia)
subtle radiance = pearl mica
These give light reflection instead of sparkle.
Tallow Body Bronzer Balm
Take you existing foundation and add:
gold mica 3–5%
bronze mica 3–4%
extra oils 10–15%
It becomes a glow body balm instead of foundation.
BREAKOUT PREVENTION NOTES
Tapioca starch in the base replaces heavy kaolin and keeps pores clearer
Sericite mica is finer and less pore-clogging than standard craft mica
Keep beeswax at or below 12% — higher amounts can be too occlusive
Cosmetic grade iron oxides only — craft grade sits in pores
Fully dispersed pigments in castor oil before adding = no dry clumps in pores
WHEN & HOW TO SPLIT BATCHES
For the 3 Color Sticks (Bronzer, Blush, Highlighter), Make one shared base, then split at 140°F after tapioca starch is fully whisked in.
For Foundation, Make separately — different base ratios and silica addition.
