  • Tallow: 408g (45%)

  • Coconut Oil: 109g (12%)

  • Olive Oil: 181g (20%)

  • Shea Butter: 136g (15%)

  • Apricot Kernel Oil: 45g (5%)

  • NaOH (Lye): 118g

  • Distilled Water: 272g (30% lye concentration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare lye solution: Carefully add NaOH to distilled water (never reverse). Stir until dissolved. Set aside to cool.

  2. Melt oils: Combine all oils and butters. Heat gently until fully melted (approximately 100-110°F / 38-43°C).

  3. Combine: When both lye solution and oils are around 100-110°F, slowly pour lye solution into oils while stirring.

  4. Blend to trace: Use stick blender in short bursts until mixture reaches light-medium trace (consistency of thin pudding).

  5. Pour into molds: Pour into 2" round silicone molds.

  6. Cure:

    • Unmold after 24-48 hours

    • Cure for 4-6 weeks in a well-ventilated area

    • Turn bars weekly for even curing

Notes

  • Superfat at 7% provides gentle cleansing suitable for the whole family (newborns excluded)

  • 2" × 2" format encourages rotation: use one bar while the other dries

  • Store in silicone travel case to extend bar life

  • Same mold size as shampoo bars for consistency

Safety

  • Always add lye to water, never water to lye

  • Work in well-ventilated area

  • Wear safety goggles and gloves
