Pressed Kaolin Setting Powder

Container: 26mm metal pans or compacts
Batch Size: 80g (makes ~20 compacts at 4g each)
Finish: Natural matte, not flat
Inspired by: Chantecaille pressed powders

Formula (80g batch)

Base Powder:

• Kaolin Clay: 64g (80%)

• Arrowroot Powder: 16g (20%)

• Magnesium Stearate: 1.6-2.4g (2-3%) - for smooth pressing

For Tinted Version (optional):

• Yellow Iron Oxide: 0.4g

• Red Iron Oxide: 0.08g

Pressing Instructions

1. Mix all dry ingredients thoroughly

2. Fill pans slightly overfull

3. Add 91-99% alcohol until "wet sand" consistency (5-10 sprays or 1-2ml per pan)

4. Press HARD and EVENLY with back of spoon, coin wrapped in plastic, or small spatula

5. Press from center outward to avoid cracks

6. Wick excess alcohol from edges with paper towel corner

7. Let dry 12-24 hours completely open

Tips

• Add 1-2 drops jojoba per container for creamier texture (takes longer to dry)

• Don't press again after wicking

• Overfill slightly - it compresses down

Use by blending together with the base color to create unique color matching. Since the oils have already been melted, these can blend together. If heavy on the beeswax, you can remelt for full blending.
